This is a senior-level administrative/management position that is responsible for overseeing the city’s Public Works Department. Activities include planning and implementing short and long-term programs, organizing, managing personnel, contract administration & ensuring the timely and efficient completion of various small & capital projects, determining major department policies, budgeting, making difficult administrative decisions, and directing the operational and facilities maintenance functions of the Department. The Department has 24 full-time positions, 22 part-time positions, and its work force is augmented with one part-time inmate detail and community service workers. With a $2.96 million general fund budget, $0.47 million water enterprise fund, and other capital funding the department is responsible for maintenance of 64.4 miles of streets, 69.6 miles of sidewalks, street & park trees, street signage, 355 customer groundwater water system, 8 mostly passive use parks, 6 park bathroom buildings, interactive fountain, 3 playgrounds, amphitheater, lake, disc golf course, 5 pavilions, 2 greenways, 8.71 miles trails/greenways, soft surface trail, community garden & orchard, landscape maintenance, litter control, 5 main municipal buildings, non-police fleet vehicles and equipment, grounds & parking lots, stormwater MS4 infrastructure system, public art, completing various capital projects, staffing special park events, etc.
