The primary function of this position is to drive a tractor-trailer (day cab/sleeper), tandem trailer and/ or straight trucks on intrastate and/or interstate routes to pick up Logistics' loads and/or other related food and non-food product loads.
The Dedicated Logistics Driver then delivers the assigned loads back to PFG warehouse locations for receiving into inventory.
The Dedicated Logistics Driver is responsible for timely pick-ups and ensuring the right product is received and loaded.
The Dedicated Logistics Driver must perform all duties in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, observing all Company safety regulations and ensuring all quality standards are met.
The Dedicated Logistics Driver position is a dedicated Logistics and/or Procurement department role usually reporting to a Logistics Manager/Supervisor.
The work schedule may be local and/or over-the-road, i.e. layovers.
The Dedicated Logistics Driver may be required to run a delivery route per business needs.
The position will perform other duties as assigned per business need.
Perform all duties in accordance with DOT regulations and Company health and safety policies.
Perform appropriate load and paperwork inspections including but not limited to product counts, invoices of products that have been loaded, quality checks and other related items as required.
Check and complete in an accurate and legible fashion all the required paper work associated with backhaul operations.
Drive to assigned supplier/vendor and/or PFG warehouse locations according to a predetermined route and delivery schedule.
The schedule and route types may be local and/or over-the-road, i.e.layovers.
Over-the-road schedule length will vary based on the location's business needs.
Routinely check in with direct supervisor to confirm route, load and schedule.
Advise direct supervisor of load drop-off/pick-up issues, schedule changes and other related information.
At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
Courteous and professional behavior must be observed in all situations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
*Required Experience
• 6-12 months of commercial driving experience
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma/GED
• Valid CDL-A with doubles endorsement
• Must be 21 years of age
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
• Pass pre-employment drug test
• Pass road test
• Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
Preferred Qualifications
• 2-4 years of commercial driving experience
• Foodservice distribution industry experience
• Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e. PeopleNet)
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
